army- immigrant girlfriend- immigration laws?
« on: October 05, 2006, 08:55:54 AM »

Hi!
I am about to get enlisted into the army.  however, my girlfriend and i want to get married before that.
she is an international student and has a valid I-20 till dec. 2007
how would this work in terms of processing paperowkr.... can we get married and she apply for an adjustment of status to become a legal permanent resident??
can she work (she HAS had a prior H1-B visa)

what's the best way to go around doing this?

You really need to speak to a lawyer who can discuss the exact specifics of her US Immigration status. Try to find one locally who can see and review her documents.

Good luck and congrats on your relationship - thanks also for serving in the Army.
