Hello my name is Shaunna Burns. I am a 27 year old married mother and wife that lives in fl. My question is: that I was " raised " by the NC foster care system. I was taken away from my parents when I was 11 and stayed in the custody of the state until after I was 20. I have been " requesting" (both verbaly and in written terms) for a copy of my dss file. I was told on many occasions that when you turn 18 you can get a copy of your file. Then when you actually ask, They tell you that there are confidential reasons why they cant give it to you. Ive been trying to no avail for six years. i keep being told that no one will take me seriously with out an attorney. But why as a ward of the state do i have to get an attorney to get what is my legal right to have? No one can answer that!!! Can you help me? ? P L E A S E!!!!! I have no evil intent I just want to know what happend in my life. Thats all. Please feel free to contact me with any advice i welcolme all the help I can get. Its the government after all... haha thank you for your help shaunna
