Paying Too Long

I borrowed 16,000.00 , to buy a mobile home in 1996. Missed payments, but obviously they have been paid, refinanced one time, in 1999.  And they are telling me the pay off on the trailer now is 14,000.00 dollars!!!!! Which means only $2,000.00 of all that I paid went on the trailer, can someone tell me who I need to get to look into this for me???
