Will it be dropped?

I was pulled over today after I was trying to pass a truck going at least 10 mph below the speed limit. As I was about to be able to pass he sped up putting me in a tight spot and having to hit the brakes and get over fast I was then pulled over and was cited for endangering the welfare of a minor my son. I tried to explain that I wasn't doing anything wild or careless but he ignored me. Will it be easy to get this dropped? I'm about to graduate and begin teaching this won't look good on my record. Oh yea I have no record at all. Do I need a Lawyer?
