Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew whether a car can be searched after an accident even if the car is towed and the driver is not present anymore. My friend got rear ended but his car wouldn't turn on so it had to be towed. The police officer took him to a gas station where I could pick him up but now he's afraid there might have been paraphernelia in the car and when he went to check out the car at the towing place the paraphernalia was missing from his car. Is there a way that he can be charged for possessing paraphernalia even though he wasn't present for the search? If so, how would they go about giving him a ticket?
